Reko-Recko 03™'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Haroldo de Sena didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luis Andino went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Haroldo de Sena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Haroldo de Sena prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Ecuador's goalie and right to Tostão Arruda. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Ecuador's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 32 minutes into the game, Walmyr Proença was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Reko-Recko 03™'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Odd Van kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Haroldo de Sena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After a rather tough play, Reko-Recko 03™'s Zézinho Paraense got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulinho Chaves during the 44th minute. Haroldo de Sena didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Luis Andino slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Haroldo de Sena. That made the score 0-4 after 52 minutes of play. When Hortêncio Rosa fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Reko-Recko 03™'s protests and gave Hortêncio Rosa a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Reko-Recko 03™ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hortêncio Rosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haroldo de Sena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Haroldo de Sena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 62nd minute of play. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 72nd match minute when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-6 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 76th minute, Reko-Recko 03™'s goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Felix Montenegro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Haroldo de Sena made a huge save. In the 78th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. It was a well-played corner which Luis Andino managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Ecuador's Luis Andino got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 84th minute, Ecuador's Felix Montes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Haroldo de Sena. Haroldo de Sena yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. 87 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Haroldo de Sena made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-8. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montes got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Haroldo de Sena in the 97th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 98 minutes Reko-Recko 03™'s defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Daniel Zorita almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Reko-Recko 03™'s Haroldo de Sena did a great save. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Reko-Recko 03™ throughout the match.
