In the 17th minute, Julian Murillo fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Erasmo Loi, passed just outside the right post. Erasmo Loi was out of position in the 19 minute of play, and Julian Murillo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Julian Murillo really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. The Apocalípticos & Caóticos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erasmo Loi should have stopped the shot. In the 46th minute, Fernando Gamus made a precise shot to the right of Rolando Noboa. Peru's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Fernando Gamus in the 53rd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Herbert Henskens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Herbert Henskens came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
