In the 30th minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Qwinton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Constantino Johans in the 31st minute of play. In the 37th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ariel Qwinton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isidoro Sarmiento blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ariel Qwinton having to make a save. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Qwinton having to interfere. Luciano Diegotxe hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Abraham Alguacil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Ariel Qwinton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adan Paio scored 2-0 in the 57th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Tomas Berganza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ariel Qwinton was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. In the 65th minute, Constantino Johans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ariel Qwinton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 66th minute of play. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Berganza in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ariel Qwinton saved Megistus from getting behind. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Tomas Berganza's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ariel Qwinton was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. In the 89th minute, Constantino Johans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 90th minute, Panama's Tomas Berganza ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ariel Qwinton. Ariel Qwinton yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Santos Otsoa's late challenge caught a Panama's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Santos Otsoa helped the player get up and apologised. After 96 played minutes Megistus got a freekick which was hit by Santos Otsoa.
