After a rather tough play, Werneck FC - DMZ's Mário Mendes got a free kick in the 15th minute. Rafael Loyola came out of the goal and Lautaro Mancebo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luca Zorita scored 0-4 in the 36th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rafael Loyola, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Werneck FC - DMZ's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by Werneck FC - DMZ's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Lautaro Mancebo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rafael Loyola was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lautaro Mancebo couldn't finish the play. After 61 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Felix Luque. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 67 played minutes Werneck FC - DMZ got a freekick which was hit by Zé Paulo Lara. 69 minutes into the match, Alberto Tafalla had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rafael Loyola. Werneck FC - DMZ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alberto Tafalla was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. 75 minutes into the game, Joel Gaona cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Rafael Loyola was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 78th minute, Lautaro Mancebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the Werneck FC - DMZ defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rafael Loyola. The Werneck FC - DMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rafael Loyola should have stopped the shot. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Werneck FC - DMZ's goalkeeper Rafael Loyola, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Werneck FC - DMZ's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Joel Gaona scored to the left of an out of position Rafael Loyola, making the score, 0-8. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Vinhas, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. After having played for 94 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match was over Mexico could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Werneck FC - DMZ throughout the match.
