The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With his leg Benito Sanz managed to avoid a goal in the 5thth minute, when S.C. Reis United's Elano Reis fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 6th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexander Carballo to maneuver through the defense. After 8 played minutes Henrique Trigo could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-0 into the left cross. In the 12th minute, Axel Tasis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Luisinho Trancoso came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elano Reis in the 18th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Elano Reis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. S.C. Reis United were furious when Paulo Renato Trevisan was red carded, 26 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in S.C. Reis United fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 25th minute. Penalty! After 30 played minutes Amadeu Negri rounded Costa Rica's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 3-0. Elano Reis had several of the Costa Rica's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 33 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 4-0 score and a disappointed Benito Sanz as he didn't even see the shot coming. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. The supporters of S.C. Reis United booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Ferrant didn't get a good kick on the ball. 43 minutes into the game, S.C. Reis United's Elano Reis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. If Amadeu Negri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 5-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Abel Carballo hit a great ball. Benito Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Henrique Trigo's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Lautaro Puig hit a great ball. After having played for 68 minutes, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Costa Rica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Puig was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 70th minute, Costa Rica's Lautaro Puig dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 6-2. 76 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Negri came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elano Reis succeeded in the game's 78th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 7-2. Hermínio Reis hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute, Elano Reis left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.C. Reis United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-2. After 91 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Ferrant. The supporters of S.C. Reis United booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. There was no doubt that S.C. Reis United were the better team. S.C. Reis United's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
