An unexpectedly hard shot by Nils Gielis in the 6th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Bartolo Basualdo sent off a good shot on target. In the 8th minute, Cris Ronaldo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Hermann Hesse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hermann Hesse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliseo Mina in the 22nd minute of play. If Bartolo Basualdo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bartolo Basualdo in the 24th minute. In the 37th minute Milagros Fraga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hermann Hesse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 38 minutes Deportivo Popolizio FBC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Luz Tejedor who took care of the corner kick. Peru's Luz Tejedor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hermann Hesse in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Milagros Fraga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Peru's supporters rose to their feet, but Milagros Fraga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hermann Hesse breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Bartolo Basualdo to strike the kick off in the second half. Hermann Hesse came out of the goal in the 56th minute to try and stop a shot by Peru's Luz Tejedor. But to his dismay, Luz Tejedor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Deportivo Popolizio FBC's Erruki Velarroa was substituted for Bartolo Basualdo. Thanks to some nice moves Milagros Fraga could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Hermann Hesse however easily saved by the left post. 65 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Torbjørn Trondsen came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 82nd minute, Julian Murillo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Hermann Hesse was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Antonio Tenorio was substituted for Luz Tejedor. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erruki Velarroa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 92 minutes into the game, Rafael Gallo recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Hermann Hesse. Rafael Gallo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-4. Hermann Hesse was a little too slow when Antonio Tenorio got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 0-5.
