GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 19th minute of play. The GuateFortín fans' excitement grew in the 21st match minute when GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Marco Day showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Monty Rogers took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nery Pumpido. Nery Pumpido dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Marco Day showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 40th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cassius Byrne in the 41st minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nery Pumpido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Monty Rogers, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cassius Byrne to strike the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the GuateFortín defense, Cassius Byrne kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nery Pumpido. The GuateFortín fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nery Pumpido should have stopped the shot. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Monty Rogers in the 56th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 59 minutes, Edward Mcdonald put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of Nery Pumpido. 63 minutes into the game, USA's Cassius Byrne nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nery Pumpido made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-1. GuateFortín made a substitution. Pablo Mora replaced Máximo Perrone. GuateFortín's Mario Gomez was substituted for Thierry Henry. Marco Day took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Edvin Jansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 75 minutes into the match, GuateFortín's goal looked a bit too open when Cassius Byrne came free, but Nery Pumpido reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
