Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sakis Paragioudakis ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Christos Romanakoglou got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Dante Lacasa quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Themos Proedropoulos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Dante Lacasa when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Olívio Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 22nd minute of play. In the 22nd minute, Lautaro Mancebo made a precise shot to the right of Olívio Correia. Olympiacos FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Olívio Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Tafalla, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 30th minute, Joel Gaona got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Olívio Correia in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 71st match minute, Olympiacos FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Themos Proedropoulos to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Themos Proedropoulos in the 74th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Mexico's Joel Gaona sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Olívio Correia narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
