If Fabinho Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 24 played minutes Retumbante FC got a freekick which was hit by Kauã Mandrak. After a defensive mix-up in Retumbante FC's zone, Alberto Tafalla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Apat Reina came out of the goal and Alberto Tafalla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luca Zorita in the 33rd minute of play forced Retumbante FC's goalkeeper Apat Reina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 39th minute of play forced Retumbante FC's goalkeeper Apat Reina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alberto Tafalla might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Apat Reina. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alberto Tafalla ran back to his position shaking his head. José Paulo Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dante Lacasa having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Apat Reina made a huge save. In the 64th match minute, Retumbante FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Naldo Sabóia to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Apat Reina in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 70th match minute, Retumbante FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Décio Antonio to maneuver through the defense. With splendid footwork Joel Gaona arrived in front of goal to shoot 0-1 by the left pole in the game's 76th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Apat Reina in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Apat Reina made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Alberto Tafalla sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Retumbante FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. José Paulo Mendonça hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Retumbante FC defense, Joel Gaona kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Apat Reina. The Retumbante FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Apat Reina should have stopped the shot. Alberto Tafalla hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Mexico's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
