Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mehmet Akif Ersoy having to interfere. 10 minutes into the game, Rodrigo Nestor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ZigZag Athletic's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. After 10 played minutes ZigZag Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Rodrigo Nestor. After some fancy dribbling in the 11th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mehmet Akif Ersoy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 16th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. ZigZag Athletic's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alberto Tafalla fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mehmet Akif Ersoy having to interfere. 19 minutes into the match, ZigZag Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Mehmet Akif Ersoy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mehmet Akif Ersoy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 26th minute of the match. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tiago Corrêa in the 31st minute of play. Alberto Tafalla took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mehmet Akif Ersoy. Mehmet Akif Ersoy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mehmet Akif Ersoy having to interfere. Mehmet Akif Ersoy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicki Nick in the 45th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodrigo Nestor made a kick off. 52 minutes had been played when some careless play by ZigZag Athletic's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Joel Gaona was slow to take the kick. During this time Mexico's players had a chance to rest. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Mehmet Akif Ersoy in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, ZigZag Athletic's Bengt-Rune Öman got a free kick in the 56th minute. ZigZag Athletic's Per-Olof Brolin was substituted for Kjell Boberg. Bengt-Rune Öman kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. ZigZag Athletic's Mehmet Akif Ersoy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 62nd minute of play. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mehmet Akif Ersoy having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lautaro Mancebo got free with Mehmet Akif Ersoy in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to ZigZag Athletic getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Marcus Isaksson hit a great ball. 78 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mehmet Akif Ersoy. ZigZag Athletic's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Gaona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. After 81 minutes, Per-Olof Brolin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ZigZag Athletic and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Mexico booed when ZigZag Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per-Olof Brolin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mehmet Akif Ersoy showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. In the 85th minute Nicki Nick shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Alberto Tafalla had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute, Jacek Zjawin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mexico players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
