Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ludomil Drugi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wincenty Warka in the 6th minute of play. In the 7th minute, Grzegorz Rudy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ludomil Drugi in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joaquin Gayoso prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Bruno Beldad got a free kick in the 12th minute. Zdzislaw Okropny was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 13th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Ludomil Drugi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Cwajka was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Grzegorz Rudy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 25 minutes, Francisco Seco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Uruguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Francisco Seco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 34thth minute of the game Ludomil Drugi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ludomil Drugi, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Cwajka's Tata Rușanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Cwajka from getting a goal against them. In the 39th match minute, Cwajka was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roman Ziombkowski to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute Francisco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tata Rușanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ludomil Drugi to make the kick off.
