Spectators: 47 (Terracing: 36, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 0) Uruguay's Francisco Seco started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Homero Thomson to make the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Homero Thomson got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Cabrera's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joaquin Gayoso read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Uruguay's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Daniel Cabrera scored to the left of an out of position Joaquin Gayoso, making the score, 0-1. Daniel Cabrera received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. When Homero Thomson fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored TZILACATZIN's protests and gave Homero Thomson a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso got control of the ball when Salvadore González tried to sneak it across the goal line.
