In the 13thth minute of the game Daniel Cabrera who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Panama's Marcos Cotilla was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marcos Cotilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Cabrera, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tomas Berganza fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edinho Lira having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 51st minute, Victoriano Distiratsu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abraham Alguacil helped the player get up and apologised. After 54 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Abraham Alguacil. Edinho Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Berganza in the 57th minute of the match. Victoriano Distiratsu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcos Cotilla having to make a save. With a little luck, TZILACATZIN's Edinho Lira got control of the ball when Abraham Alguacil tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Panama booed when TZILACATZIN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Chico didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Homero Thomson in the 78th minute of the match. When Tomas Berganza came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Berganza couldn't finish the play.
