The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Emmanuel Reyes got a throw-in 2 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Milagros Fraga. 6 minutes into the game, Jacobo Galoer threw the ball into play from the sideline. Peru's Eliseo Mina quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 9th minute, Lucien de Neutere hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Primo Speranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Milagros Fraga in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Leon Matthäus reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Rolando Noboa. The goal made the score 1-0. In the 18th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Academia 1903's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 36th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luz Tejedor to maneuver through the defense. Primo Speranza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Julian Murillo, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Julian Murillo took the ball and in the 44 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Primo Speranza. Primo Speranza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Academia 1903 made a substitution. Jakub Fedor replaced Jeremias Ezkerra. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Julian Murillo to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Academia 1903's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Primo Speranza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Academia 1903's Primo Speranza got control of the ball when Julian Murillo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo was substituted for Leon Matthäus. 70 minutes into the match, Academia 1903's goalkeeper Primo Speranza had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luz Tejedor. 73 minutes in the game Emmanuel Reyes did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Milagros Fraga. 78 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Primo Speranza narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 80th minute of the match, Julian Murillo tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Primo Speranza saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Primo Speranza made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Luz Tejedor sent off a good shot on target. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. A throw-in in the 90th minute of the game was made by Emmanuel Reyes with Milagros Fraga as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Primo Speranza didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Antonio Tenorio went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 98th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Primo Speranza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Peru had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
