Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Olov Johnsson in the 4th minute of play. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carl-Chester Vallgren read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. In the 12th minute Orlando Casaus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carl-Chester Vallgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of VBL Stockholm booed when Chile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Manzanedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 17 played minutes Chile got a freekick which was hit by Jose Manzanedo. In the 19th minute, VBL Stockholm's Olov Johnsson ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Thiago Pliego. Thiago Pliego yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. If Mariano Lacasa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 23rd minute of play forced VBL Stockholm's goalkeeper Carl-Chester Vallgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34thth minute of the game Olov Johnsson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chile's Thiago Pliego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Xavier Figueroa in the 35th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by VBL Stockholm's Ulrik Josefsson. 37 minutes into the match, VBL Stockholm's Olov Johnsson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Thiago Pliego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orlando Casaus in the 42nd minute of play forced VBL Stockholm's goalkeeper Carl-Chester Vallgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

With a little luck, VBL Stockholm's Carl-Chester Vallgren got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Carl-Chester Vallgren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Casaus, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. But to his dismay, Olov Johnsson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Jose Manzanedo made in the 78th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Mariano Lacasa. In the 79th minute Mariano Lacasa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carl-Chester Vallgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. VBL Stockholm's Carl-Chester Vallgren proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 81st minute of the match, managed to save VBL Stockholm from getting a goal against them. In the 84th minute Chile were awarded a corner. Mariano Lacasa went to the cornerflag to take it. Chile's Thiago Pliego played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olov Johnsson in the 86th minute of play. The supporters of Chile booed when VBL Stockholm was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Torbjörn Grönlund didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carl-Chester Vallgren made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 90th minute. Chile's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because VBL Stockholm had won, even though Chile had held more of the ball.
