If Camillo Daniele had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 21st minute, Rafaela FC's Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Julio Vera. Julio Vera yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Felix Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Octavio Gonzo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Rafaela FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Octavio Gonzo in the 33rd minute. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Rafaela FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Rafaela FC's Inocencio Veronica played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felix Montes in the 36th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 38th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Rafaela FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ubaldo Lluis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 45 played minutes Rafaela FC got a freekick which was hit by Octavio Gonzo. After a defensive mix-up in Rafaela FC's zone, Felix Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Inocencio Veronica came out of the goal and Felix Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Rafaela FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 48th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio made a kick off. In the 55th minute, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Inocencio Veronica. Inocencio Veronica yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Inocencio Veronica in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Rafaela FC's Inocencio Veronica got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Ross Strong came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Camillo Daniele received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emiliano Furia in the 67th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Inocencio Veronica in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 72nd minute of play forced Rafaela FC's goalkeeper Inocencio Veronica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ubaldo Lluis kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inocencio Veronica having to interfere. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo-Sebastian Palacio, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Inocencio Veronica didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luis Andino could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Inocencio Veronica made a huge save. In the 94th minute, Octavio Gonzo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emiliano Furia in the 96th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Rafaela FC could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
