The audience was convinced that Gernando Cordeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rolando Noboa was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Georgiy Voroshilov sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Peru getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Anthony Alvarado hit a great ball. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amarante Sierra, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Victor Kauldi in the 45 minute of the game. The Catarinense F.C. players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Peru were winning 0-1.
