In the 18th minute Eliseo Noboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ragnar Hagberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Puig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ragnar Hagberg having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Tasis in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ragnar Hagberg saved Cheeky Nuts United from getting behind. Ragnar Hagberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Puig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 27 minutes into the game, Eliseo Noboa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Costa Rica's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cheeky Nuts United the free kick. The referee felt a red card was in order, 34 minutes into the game, when Kristian Amdal put in a rough tackle. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
