In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 47th minute of play forced Desportivo Coala's goalkeeper Astor Hug to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Illescas was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 76 minutes, Ronalds McDonald managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Desportivo Coala's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronalds McDonald was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guillermo Mariano kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronalds McDonald in the 80th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Astor Hug made a huge save. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Desportivo Coala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Narciso Paulista didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patricio Costa charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Patricio Costa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 92nd minute.
