In the 22nd match minute, Esperance was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arkadiy Sitnik to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 23rd minute of play forced Esperance's goalkeeper 曲强洋 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised 曲强洋. 曲强洋 dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. From close distance Roy Engström pressed in the 2-1 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 26 minutes into the game. Esperance's 曲强洋 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 29th minute of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Venezuela from getting a goal against them. In the 34th minute, Patricio Costa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 35th minute, Alex Chicote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gleb Elkibaev scored 3-1 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

After having played for 51 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bram Boonen charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bram Boonen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arkadiy Barbarash recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 60th minute. Roy Engström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Venezuela's Patricio Costa dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-3. After 73 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Venegas. Esperance's 曲强洋 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 76th minute of play. Roy Engström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of 曲强洋 when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Roy Engström stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Roy Engström tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 曲强洋 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patricio Costa in the 84th minute of play. With a little luck, Esperance's 曲强洋 got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 87th match minute, Esperance was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marat Markov to maneuver through the defense. In the 92nd minute, Nikolay Adabir left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Esperance fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-3.
