André Zonta was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Chile's Alan Tamayo got a free kick in the 11th minute. Thiago Pliego didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Maximino Lope went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Chile's zone, Maximino Lope stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thiago Pliego came out of the goal and Maximino Lope tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. El retorno del Pincha's André Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 20th minute of play. After 28th play minutes Maximino Lope shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Thiago Pliego and just under the crossbar into goal. Mariano Lacasa might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over André Zonta. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mariano Lacasa ran back to his position shaking his head. 35 minutes into the match, Chile's Mariano Lacasa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that André Zonta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximino Lope, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. After 43 minutes of play, El retorno del Pincha's Armando Inautzi made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Thiago Pliego was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 45th minute, Xavier Figueroa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When El retorno del Pincha's Maximino Lope in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chile's goalie prevented a goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The wind increased when Sven Thorsberg made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute, Mariano Lacasa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Chile fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Chile's attentive Jose Manzanedo managed to snatch the ball when Ernesto Tristezza made a throw-in in the 57th minute of the game. In the 64th minute, Sven Thorsberg made a precise shot to the right of Thiago Pliego. Chile's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Mariano Lacasa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. André Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thiago Pliego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven Thorsberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. André Zonta made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Mariano Lacasa sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Chile's Francisco Carballar got a free kick in the 86th minute. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The supporters of Chile booed when El retorno del Pincha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Brasil didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mariano Lacasa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but André Zonta read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play.
