Cadáveres Voladores's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wenzel Winter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 43rd minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pars Yorgun in the 56th minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xavier Salazar, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 77th minute, Wenzel Winter ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 79 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Zorita. Liu Gang Jian took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 80th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 82 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Wenzel Winter came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 85th minute, Birger Ståhlman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wenzel Winter in the 87th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Salazar in the 91st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Cadáveres Voladores was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position.
