With a little luck, Sporting Buceo's Vachon Camaño got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Sporting Buceo fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when Sporting Buceo's Piearres Somiedo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilmar Cuadrillero in the 45th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 47th minute Gilmar Cuadrillero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Piearres Somiedo to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Sporting Buceo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 50 match minutes in a wonderful position. Favila Heras didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 74th minute, Piearres Somiedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vachon Camaño showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. In the 81st minute Nardo Tuo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nardo Tuo in the 90th minute of play. Sporting Buceo's Nardo Tuo got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vachon Camaño showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. Venezuela's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
