Christer Waaler showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After 5 minutes, Kenneth Leidland mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Åsnes and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tomas Berganza's late challenge caught a Åsnes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tomas Berganza helped the player get up and apologised. Abraham Alguacil could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Christer Waaler made a huge save. Abraham Alguacil's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Christer Waaler firmly grabbed it by the left post. Åsnes's Christer Waaler proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 12th minute of the match, managed to save Åsnes from getting a goal against them. Isidoro Sarmiento recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 17 minutes into the game, Panama's Tomas Berganza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Christer Waaler made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rune Gjessing in the 22nd minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abraham Alguacil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Morten Hestad scored 1-1 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcos Cotilla, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 40th minute of play forced Åsnes's goalkeeper Christer Waaler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Åsnes's Kenneth Leidland got a free kick in the 41st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Åsnes's zone, Abraham Alguacil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christer Waaler came out of the goal and Abraham Alguacil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 46 minutes, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Morten Hestad made the kick off in the second half. Marcos Cotilla didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Morten Hestad went, in the 53rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 57 minutes into the game, Tomas Berganza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Christer Waaler was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Åsnes's zone, Tomas Berganza stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christer Waaler came out of the goal and Tomas Berganza tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Through an outstanding action, after 65 minutes, Marcos Cotilla successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Isidoro Sarmiento struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Christer Waaler didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. Panama's Isidoro Sarmiento got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Miguel Miralles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christer Waaler having to interfere. After 85 minutes of play, Panama's Tomas Berganza made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Christer Waaler was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 89th minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christer Waaler saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Abraham Alguacil made a precise shot to the right of Christer Waaler. Åsnes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Panama fully deserved thier win.
