The audience thought a goal was coming when Frédson Melo got free with Joaquin Gayoso in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 9th minute Catalin Haldan were awarded a corner. Živko Dabović went to the cornerflag to take it. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Catalin Haldan's Valder Gausbo. But to his dismay, Valder Gausbo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 15th minute Francisco Seco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavi Liib saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the game, Uruguay's Francisco Seco nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Olavi Liib made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Francisco Seco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olavi Liib having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frédson Melo in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Joaquin Gayoso didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Catalin Haldan's Frédson Melo shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 3-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Maximiliano Escribano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olavi Liib having to interfere. In the 34th minute, Frédson Melo made a precise shot to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Maximiliano Escribano took the ball and in the 40 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olavi Liib. Olavi Liib dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. If Maximiliano Escribano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-2.

Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Liviu Fințescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Camilo Franco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valder Gausbo in the 69th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Catalin Haldan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cirilo Romo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 74 minutes, Ernest Quesnel mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Catalin Haldan and the Uruguay players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 74th match minute, Catalin Haldan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernest Quesnel to maneuver through the defense. In the 77th minute, Marin Petre hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Catalin Haldan's Frédson Melo in the 81st minute got a chance for a shot 81st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Camilo Franco charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Camilo Franco the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Catalin Haldan booed when Uruguay was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Franco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaime Cazalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Uruguay's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Catalin Haldan had won, even though Uruguay had held more of the ball.
