Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Mattijs Klaes sent off a good shot on target. In the 12th minute, Anthony Cummings hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Remco Dekker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Facundo Cadaval kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. When Mattijs Klaes came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Decathlon Anderlecht fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mattijs Klaes couldn't finish the play. Ciro Lira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciro Lira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Decathlon Anderlecht's Ciro Lira. Ciro Lira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ciro Lira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alberto Tafalla went, in the 33rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Lorenzo Cazalla kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Decathlon Anderlecht's Dante Lacasa threw himself towards the right post 36 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Giles Winnepenninck, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 37th minute of the match Decathlon Anderlecht got a corner. Mexico's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Richy Valkeneers ran over to the corner to take the kick. 46 minutes into the game, Mattijs Klaes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Decathlon Anderlecht's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joel Gaona made a kick off. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Remco Dekker in the 50th minute of the match. Alberto Tafalla might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ciro Lira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alberto Tafalla ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Mexico's Lorenzo Cazalla got a free kick in the 55th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Decathlon Anderlecht's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Ciro Lira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Decathlon Anderlecht's Ciro Lira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 59th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luca Zorita in the 68th minute of play forced Decathlon Anderlecht's goalkeeper Ciro Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ciro Lira came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Luca Zorita. But to his dismay, Luca Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remco Dekker, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. 86 minutes into the match, Decathlon Anderlecht's goalkeeper Ciro Lira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alberto Tafalla. The referee felt a red card was in order, 91 minutes into the game, when Cafu van Beek put in a rough tackle. After 90 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Decathlon Anderlecht! When the match was over Mexico could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Decathlon Anderlecht throughout the match.
