The referee ignored The Commandos's protests and gave Fondas Papadogiannakis a yellow card for diving instead. After 59 played minutes The Commandos got a freekick which was hit by Fondas Papadogiannakis. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dumitru Moraru was a little too slow when Facundo Cadaval got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 68th minute. The score was now 0-3. Lautaro Mancebo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dumitru Moraru firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 83rd minute Mexico were awarded a corner. Joel Gaona went to the cornerflag to take it. Alberto Tafalla recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 85th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dumitru Moraru made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 88th minute. After 91 minutes, Grigoris Sourmelis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Commandos and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mexico's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
