An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 4th minute of play forced COSMOS's goalkeeper Tadeusz Bielatowicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Felix Luque hit a great ball. Tadeusz Bielatowicz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. COSMOS's Tadeusz Bielatowicz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 11th minute of play. Tadeusz Bielatowicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 13th minute of the match. Alberto Tafalla sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isaac Verduin got free with Dante Lacasa in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Azli Lim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. In the 26thth minute of the game Alberto Tafalla who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but COSMOS's Tadeusz Bielatowicz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 31 minutes, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Mancebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the match, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tadeusz Bielatowicz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Isaac Verduin came free with the goalkeeper in the 36th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Dante Lacasa could save by the left post. Nicklas Karlsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tadeusz Bielatowicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 41st minute of play. In the 44th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. COSMOS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo to fire away a dangerous shot which Tadeusz Bielatowicz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The supporters of COSMOS booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lorenzo Cazalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nicklas Karlsson to make the kick off. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ryszard Cempa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 57 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Azli Lim came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Nicklas Karlsson managed to get in a good position for a shot. COSMOS's supporters rose to their feet, but Nicklas Karlsson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, COSMOS's Emil Kapera got a free kick in the 58th minute. Tadeusz Bielatowicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 60th minute of the match. Emil Kapera's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emil Kapera helped the player get up and apologised. In the 66th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tadeusz Bielatowicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Tadeusz Bielatowicz made a huge save.
