The audience thought a goal was coming when Leon Matthäus got free with Rolando Noboa in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Leon Matthäus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Rolando Noboa made a huge save. If Julian Murillo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Primo Speranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 20th minute of play. Julian Murillo took the ball and in the 22 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Primo Speranza. Primo Speranza dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Primo Speranza made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 25th minute of play. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leon Matthäus in the 34th minute of the match. Academia 1903's Primo Speranza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 36th minute of play. In the 38thth minute of the game Julian Murillo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Academia 1903's Primo Speranza was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 39th minute Julian Murillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Primo Speranza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Leon Matthäus tried to sneak it across the goal line. After the first half Peru were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Academia 1903's Jakub Fedor was substituted for Jeremias Ezkerra. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leon Matthäus made a kick off. Academia 1903's Primo Speranza proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Academia 1903 from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eliseo Mina in the 57th minute of play forced Academia 1903's goalkeeper Primo Speranza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Primo Speranza showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Academia 1903 made a substitution. Timoteo Columbo replaced Leon Matthäus. Alonso Berganza made in the 64th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Moises Gayoso immediately put the ball in play. The supporters of Peru booed when Academia 1903 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aldo Maju didn't get a good kick on the ball. Timoteo Columbo scored 1-1 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 77th minute of play forced Academia 1903's goalkeeper Primo Speranza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Academia 1903's Lucien de Neutere got a free kick in the 78th minute. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Timoteo Columbo, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 83rd minute, Julian Murillo made a precise shot to the right of Primo Speranza. Academia 1903's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. 87 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Timoteo Columbo came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolando Noboa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Timoteo Columbo went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. 93 minutes into the match, Academia 1903's Timoteo Columbo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Rolando Noboa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Alonso Berganza charged in rather forcefully in the 95th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alonso Berganza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 95th match minute, Peru was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alonso Berganza to maneuver through the defense. Timoteo Columbo scored 3-2 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rolando Noboa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Many of Peru's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Peru may have spent more time on the ball, but Academia 1903 were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
