It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Antônio Aguiar kicked off to start the match. In the 4th minute Abraham Alguacil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 5 minutes, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Panama booed when Inazuma Japan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antônio Aguiar didn't get a good kick on the ball. 8 minutes into the game, Felipe Ros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Panama's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inazuma Japan the free kick. Amadeu Pontes hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Zé Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 13th minute of play. 13 minutes into the game, Panama's Tomas Berganza nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Zé Vieira made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 16th minute, Dedé Ribeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Isidoro Sarmiento hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antônio Aguiar in the 21st minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Inazuma Japan's Gilson Prestes got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 24 minutes into the match, Inazuma Japan's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Zé Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26th minute, Aaron Barrios hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Aguiar in the 30th minute of play. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antônio Aguiar in the 31st minute of play. Marcos Cotilla made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rui Silva in the 33rd minute. Zé Vieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Miralles, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 42nd minute, Rui Silva made a precise shot to the right of Marcos Cotilla. Panama's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Zé Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 44th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Berganza to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dedé Correia during the 52nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 52nd minute, Dedé Correia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 53rd minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcos Cotilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Silva in the 58th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Inazuma Japan's Gilson Prestes got a free kick in the 59th minute. After 60 played minutes, Panama's Abraham Alguacil shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Zé Vieira came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Panama reached it. In the 63rd minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Vieira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 65th match minute, Inazuma Japan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rui Silva to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Panama defense, Rui Silva kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Marcos Cotilla. The Panama fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Marcos Cotilla should have stopped the shot. In the 75th match minute, Inazuma Japan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Maranhense to maneuver through the defense. When Inazuma Japan's Hortêncio Montenegro in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Panama's goalie prevented a goal. Inazuma Japan's Hortêncio Montenegro managed to work through Panama's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Hortêncio Montenegro dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. A collision led to Inazuma Japan getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Rui Silva hit a great ball. When Tomas Berganza came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tomas Berganza couldn't finish the play. After 86 played minutes Panama got a freekick which was hit by Felipe Ros. Eliseu Dante's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marcos Cotilla read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Cambeiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 88th minute of the match Eliseu Dante sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Marcos Cotilla skillfully saved the ball. Tomas Berganza struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Zé Vieira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Panama. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 94th minute of play forced Inazuma Japan's goalkeeper Zé Vieira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Panama's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
