The Tadeusz Bielatowicz was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Tadeusz Bielatowicz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Felix Montenegro went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tadeusz Bielatowicz was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after COSMOS's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. In the 19th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Tadeusz Bielatowicz. COSMOS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After 27 minutes COSMOS's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Felix Montes was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Tadeusz Bielatowicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in COSMOS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 42nd minute. Penalty! The referee gave Ecuador a penalty, 45 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Daniel Zorita, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of COSMOS's Tadeusz Bielatowicz. 0-4. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

COSMOS's Zenon Kuszczak was substituted for Napoleon Skorny. The wind increased when Isaac Verduin made the kick off in the second half. Tadeusz Bielatowicz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 55th minute of play. Tadeusz Bielatowicz made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. The corner led Ecuador's Daniel Zorita to fire away a dangerous shot which Tadeusz Bielatowicz despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 63rd minute Isaac Verduin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ecuador booed when COSMOS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Azli Lim didn't get a good kick on the ball. 65 minutes into the game, Zenon Kuszczak was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. COSMOS's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ecuador the free kick. Zenon Kuszczak hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. 66 minutes into the match, COSMOS's goalkeeper Tadeusz Bielatowicz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. With a little luck, COSMOS's Tadeusz Bielatowicz got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. COSMOS made a substitution. Andrzej Juskowiak replaced Nicklas Karlsson. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tadeusz Bielatowicz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ryszard Cempa in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 80 minutes, Isaac Verduin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. COSMOS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Isaac Verduin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Azli Lim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Felix Montenegro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Tadeusz Bielatowicz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tadeusz Bielatowicz made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 89th minute to try and stop a shot by COSMOS's Isaac Verduin. But to his dismay, Isaac Verduin quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. 95 minutes in the game, Cristian Sancho fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Tadeusz Bielatowicz having to interfere. The COSMOS fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
