The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tomas Berganza might have been able to make a better finish in the 6th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Vieira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tomas Berganza ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tomas Berganza in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Vieira saved Inazuma Japan from getting behind. In the 15th minute Hortêncio Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcos Cotilla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 16 minutes, Caetano Fontes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Inazuma Japan and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card. 18 minutes into the match, Inazuma Japan's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Zé Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 26thth minute of the game Tomas Berganza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Inazuma Japan's Zé Vieira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Panama's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rui Silva was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Panama's defense didn't have a chance, in the 43rd minute, when Hortêncio Montenegro scored to the left of an out of position Marcos Cotilla, making the score, 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rui Silva got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 48 minutes into the match, Inazuma Japan's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Berganza came free, but Zé Vieira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

With an all-out effort, Panama's Zé Vieira threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Miguel Miralles, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Isidoro Sarmiento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Vieira having to interfere. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antônio Aguiar in the 86th minute of the match. Zé Vieira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 92nd minute of play. A collision led to Inazuma Japan getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Caetano Fontes hit a great ball. Inazuma Japan's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
