An unexpectedly hard shot by Wiliam Perez in the 12th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atlético Capixaba's Charles de Brito played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 13th minute of play. Marcos Cotilla was out of position in the 20 minute of play, and Wiliam Perez capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Wiliam Perez really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. Charles de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wiliam Perez received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Marcos Cotilla came out and tried to block the shot, but Wiliam Perez slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 36th minute. The referee felt a red card was in order, 41 minutes into the game, when Enrico Molinaro put in a rough tackle. Atlético Capixaba made a substitution. The referee ignored Panama's protests and gave Alex Cambeiro a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Cambeiro to maneuver through the defense.
