Julio Garay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Rosario Central's Julio Garay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 11th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Toni Martinovic, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 15th minute Leopoldo Baraquiel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rosario Central's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Horácio Aparecido took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Jonathan Ferrant to make any attempt to save it. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horácio Aparecido got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 36 minutes into the game, Anders Kilberg recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. Anders Kilberg showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Horácio Aparecido got free with Jonathan Ferrant in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Rosario Central booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jonathan Venegas didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Illescas to strike the kick off in the second half. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Patricio Costa scored 3-1 in the 61st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Garay, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Garay having to interfere. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. In the 70th match minute, Rosario Central was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ali Ömer Kırgız to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toto Mansilla in the 77th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by Rosario Central's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tomas Illescas was slow to take the kick. During this time Venezuela's players had a chance to rest. Patricio Costa made a great header on Venezuela's corner, it was just that Rosario Central's Julio Garay managed to reach the ball for a save. The tension between the Rosario Central and the Venezuela players grew even worse after the yellow card. Venezuela's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Camilo Gaos's late challenge caught a Rosario Central's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camilo Gaos helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Camilo Gaos hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Rosario Central fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
