Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 7th minute of play forced Vejbystrand's goalkeeper 龙挺卫 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rolando Noboa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Harald Ennegren in the 8th minute. After some careless play in the Vejbystrand defense, Julian Murillo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of 龙挺卫. The Vejbystrand fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that 龙挺卫 should have stopped the shot. The throw-in from Alonso Berganza in the 18th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Vejbystrand's Torgny Valrot. Moises Gayoso made in the 21st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eliseo Mina. After having played for 28 minutes, Eliseo Mina managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseo Mina was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 龙挺卫 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luz Tejedor in the 39th minute of play. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. 龙挺卫 didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 46th minute of play forced Vejbystrand's goalkeeper 龙挺卫 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Vejbystrand's 龙挺卫 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 63rd minute of play. 66 minutes into the game, Harald Ennegren cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Rolando Noboa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vejbystrand's Moisés Queiroga was substituted for Harald Ennegren. Vejbystrand made a substitution. Sonny Karlberg replaced Bengt-Rune Groth. Milagros Fraga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 龙挺卫 having to interfere. After 83 minutes Peru's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Sílvio Luís Faria who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Vejbystrand's Sílvio Luís Faria to fire away a dangerous shot which Rolando Noboa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peru's Rafael Gallo was substituted for Julian Murillo. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernt Nordlund in the 93rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sonny Karlberg in the 94th minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Peru players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
