Spectators: 51 (Terracing: 39, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 1) Daniel Zorita made the kick off and thus started the match. 3 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Estudiantes de América's Prospero Abadia. Prospero Abadia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gustavo Bautista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 9th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 11th minute of play forced Estudiantes de América's goalkeeper Prospero Abadia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita scored 0-2 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Prospero Abadia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 21 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Prospero Abadia was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 29th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Gustavo Bautista could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Prospero Abadia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Prospero Abadia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Estudiantes de América was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Octavio Bitxintxo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Prospero Abadia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lino Ekialde stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Felix Montenegros short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Prospero Abadia to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Thanks to some nice moves Felix Montenegro could shoot a difficult shot in the 56th minute, which Prospero Abadia however easily saved by the left post. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Estudiantes de América's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. When Diego Banegas fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Estudiantes de América's protests and gave Diego Banegas a yellow card for diving instead. Prospero Abadia made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Prospero Abadia in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Estudiantes de América was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anselmo Orlan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Rolando Erasto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Rolando Erasto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Prospero Abadia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 82nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 87th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Prospero Abadia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 89 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de América's goalkeeper Prospero Abadia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. After 90 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-7 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Prospero Abadia was left in no man's land by his defense there! Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
