Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 9 played minutes, Bandeca FC's Hunor Adam shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bandeca FC reached it. In the 17th minute, Márcio de Salles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guaberto Gamus having to make a save. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hunor Adam in the 28th minute of the match. Bandeca FC's Guaberto Gamus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Patricio Costa in the 32nd minute of play. After having played for 33 minutes, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Illescas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bandeca FC's Guaberto Gamus played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 38th minute of play. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Durvalino Salles in the 43rd minute of play. Guaberto Gamus took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joshua Secada, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Igor Mota, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Igor Mota took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Bandeca FC's Caetano Azevedo was substituted for Waldir Marquez. A collision led to Bandeca FC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Caetano Azevedo hit a great ball. In the 67thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bandeca FC's Guaberto Gamus was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With an all-out effort, Venezuela's Guaberto Gamus threw himself towards the right post 71 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Patricio Costa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 72nd minute, Arlindo de Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Bandeca FC's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guaberto Gamus came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Banders in the 75th minute of play. Caetano Azevedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 89th minute of play forced Bandeca FC's goalkeeper Guaberto Gamus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
