In the 19th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alberto Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. When Luizão Peixoto came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Karaboudjan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luizão Peixoto couldn't finish the play. Arturo Carvallo charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arturo Carvallo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arturo Carvallo kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. 25 minutes into the game, Karaboudjan's Fernandinho Albuquerque nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Marcelinho Abraão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Francisco Seco in the 28th minute. Alberto Gisbert hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aírton Oliveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aírton Oliveira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kléberson Gomes made in the 37th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Wilson Bezerra immediately put the ball in play. Yuri Teixeira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 39 minutes into the match, Karaboudjan's goalkeeper Marcelinho Abraão had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Seco. 41 minutes into the match, Karaboudjan's Aírton Oliveira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Emanuel Galvão hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandinho Albuquerque in the 47th minute of the match. The Uruguay players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Karaboudjan were winning 0-2.

In the 56th minute, Jaime Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 63rd minute, Francisco Seco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcelinho Abraão was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. In the 68th minute Fernandinho Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Karaboudjan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizão Peixoto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kléberson Gomes got a throw-in 76 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Aírton Oliveira. Yuri Teixeira hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Seco in the 82nd minute of play forced Karaboudjan's goalkeeper Marcelinho Abraão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 87 minutes into the match, Karaboudjan's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Cazalla came free, but Marcelinho Abraão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Karaboudjan were awarded a corner in the 90th minute after Uruguay's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felippe Monteiro took the corner. Jorge Sainz tried in the game's 90th match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Joaquin Gayoso. An annoying self made goal, 1-4.
