The supporters of Set Fire booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Brais in the 26th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Inocencio Oinatz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Daniel Zorita's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. 40 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Set Fire's Inocencio Oinatz. Inocencio Oinatz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 42nd minute, Pedro Brais got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olof Uter, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After 54 minutes, Kálmán Szigligeti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Set Fire and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Alberto Bidun kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. In the 93rd minute, Alberto Bidun left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Set Fire fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-1.
