Jindřich Benc received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Peter Schmeichel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luz Tejedor, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when José Vilhena stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Song Chang Fan hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Peter Schmeichel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Peru's Luz Tejedor was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Peter Schmeichel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luz Tejedor in the 69th minute of play forced FK Užnemunė SLAVA UKRAINI's goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Peru were awarded a corner in the 71th minute after FK Užnemunė SLAVA UKRAINI's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Luz Tejedor took the corner. FK Užnemunė SLAVA UKRAINI's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 74 minutes into the match, FK Užnemunė SLAVA UKRAINI's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Murillo came free, but Peter Schmeichel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Milagros Fraga took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Peter Schmeichel. Peter Schmeichel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Peru's Eliseo Alcocer was substituted for Moises Gayoso. Peter Schmeichel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eliseo Mina went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. 90 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when José Vilhena came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 92 minutes, Antonio Tenorio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antonio Tenorio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 93rd minute Antonio Tenorio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Peter Schmeichel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
