Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ziemowit Gdowski in the 27th minute of play. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Hamílton Linhares was slow to take the kick. During this time Viseu United's players had a chance to rest. Viseu United's Hamílton Linhares was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 35th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Adrian Txindoki was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Adrian Txindoki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hamílton Linhares couldn't finish the play. In the 96th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adrian Txindoki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Ecuador had played much better football throughout.
