Club Deportes La Serena's Tobías Quilempan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 29th minute of play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ermegildo Fazzini was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Club Deportes La Serena defense, Alberto Tafalla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tobías Quilempan. The Club Deportes La Serena fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tobías Quilempan should have stopped the shot. Club Deportes La Serena's Tobías Quilempan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 59th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bonifacio Cristofor in the 60th minute of the match. Ermegildo Fazzini's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dante Lacasa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. 77 minutes into the game, Mexico's Luca Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tobías Quilempan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. Club Deportes La Serena made a substitution. Edgardo Garzo replaced Ermegildo Fazzini. Club Deportes La Serena's Haroldo Ayorecha was substituted for Georgiy Fedoseev. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgardo Garzo in the 82nd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tobías Quilempan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 85th minute of the match. Tobías Quilempan came out of the goal in the 88th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Alberto Tafalla. But to his dismay, Alberto Tafalla quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-2. After 92 minutes, Alberto Tafalla mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mexico and the Club Deportes La Serena players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Club Deportes La Serena booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberto Tafalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 93 played minutes, Club Deportes La Serena's Haroldo Ayorecha shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dante Lacasa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Club Deportes La Serena reached it. Mexico's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
