With a little luck, Chile's Thiago Pliego got control of the ball when Ermegildo Fazzini tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thiago Pliego made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Soso Cheishvili sent off a good shot on target. 13 minutes into the match, Chile's goalkeeper Thiago Pliego had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ermegildo Fazzini. Ermegildo Fazzini who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 15thth minute tested the skills of Thiago Pliego when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tobías Quilempan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mariano Lacasa's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Francisco Carballar kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ermegildo Fazzini in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thiago Pliego saved Chile from getting behind. Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ermegildo Fazzini's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. Ermegildo Fazzini could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Thiago Pliego made a huge save. Ermegildo Fazzini in the 31stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Thiago Pliego, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Thiago Pliego stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ermegildo Fazzini's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. Mirco Milbradt made in the 42nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Georgiy Fedoseev.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mariano Lacasa in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tobías Quilempan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 53 minutes into the match, Club Deportes La Serena's goalkeeper Tobías Quilempan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mariano Lacasa. Mariano Lacasa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Tobías Quilempan made a huge save. Mariano Lacasa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Wim Zuidam fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Club Deportes La Serena's protests and gave Wim Zuidam a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Chile booed when Club Deportes La Serena was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvatore Bunster didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute, Mariano Lacasa made a precise shot to the right of Tobías Quilempan. Club Deportes La Serena's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. Club Deportes La Serena's Edgardo Garzo was substituted for Ermegildo Fazzini. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edgardo Garzo in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Thiago Pliego prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 86th minute, Said Hamed ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago Pliego was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. 90 minutes into the match, Club Deportes La Serena's goalkeeper Tobías Quilempan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pedro Indiano. Tobías Quilempan was a little too slow when Orlando Casaus got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 92nd minute. The score was now 2-4. When the match was over Chile could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Club Deportes La Serena throughout the match.
