Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Constantino Bertol in the 5th minute. Tomas Illescas struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Tony Guimarães didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. In the 9th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. Teodoro Primo in the 11thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Guimarães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Iker Dolfos struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C. A. Atlanta. In the 21st minute, Apolo Artizar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Tony Guimarães tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tony Guimarães showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 28th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvador Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Teodoro Primo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Tony Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 35th minute of play. Tony Guimarães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. Teodoro Primo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 43rd minute of play forced C. A. Atlanta's goalkeeper Tony Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Teodoro Primo was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Teodoro Primo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Jonathan Ferrant was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 54 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Teodoro Primo came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Patricio Costa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tony Guimarães read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save C. A. Atlanta from getting a goal against them. In the 61st match minute, C. A. Atlanta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Apolo Artizar to maneuver through the defense. After 63 played minutes C. A. Atlanta got a freekick which was hit by Apolo Artizar. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Teodoro Primo during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 75th minute, Teodoro Primo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 76 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. The supporters of C. A. Atlanta booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Constantino Bertol blasted a shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Tony Guimarães made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Tomas Illescas sent off a good shot on target. In the 86th minute of the match Venezuela got a corner. C. A. Atlanta's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomas Illescas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Tomas Illescas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but C. A. Atlanta's Tony Guimarães did a great save. 88 minutes in the game, Patricio Costa fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Tony Guimarães having to interfere. In the 89th minute, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Tony Guimarães. Tony Guimarães yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. If Constantino Bertol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. C. A. Atlanta were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
