The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kent Lindberg in the 10th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 18th minute of play forced Mercado Paulista F.C's goalkeeper Franco Sampler to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 27 minutes, Kent Lindberg put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. 35 minutes into the match, Mercado Paulista F.C's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Franco Sampler reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kent Lindberg struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mercado Paulista F.C. After 89 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. In the 92nd minute Mercado Paulista F.C were awarded a corner. Hans Doss went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Hans Doss got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Cristian de Lima struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mercado Paulista F.C. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cristian de Lima went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Mercado Paulista F.C were victorious despite being under pressure from Ecuador for much of the match.
