In the 12th minute, Bo Svanström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Miguel Miralles took the ball and in the 14 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fredrik Bennet. Fredrik Bennet dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Fredrik Bennet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 17th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Isidoro Sarmiento in the 21st minute of play forced Samurai's goalkeeper Fredrik Bennet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mattias Smefeldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcos Cotilla having to interfere. Fredrik Bennet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Berganza, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Samurai's zone, Abraham Alguacil stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fredrik Bennet came out of the goal and Abraham Alguacil tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mattias Smefeldt during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Samurai getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Mattias Smefeldt hit a great ball. Abraham Alguacil might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fredrik Bennet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Abraham Alguacil ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 35th minute, Olov Bäckström reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Marcos Cotilla. The goal made the score 1-1. Tomas Berganza took the ball and in the 38 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fredrik Bennet. Fredrik Bennet dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Fredrik Bennet showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Miralles, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 47 minutes of play, Panama's Tomas Berganza made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Fredrik Bennet was left in no man's land by his defense there! After the first half Panama were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tomas Berganza was the one to do the kick off. Fredrik Bennet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Berganza in the 54th minute of the match. Fredrik Bennet made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Abraham Alguacil sent off a good shot on target. Fredrik Bennet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 57th minute. Abraham Alguacils short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Fredrik Bennet to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Abraham Alguacil put it in 1-4 from a short distance just to the right of Fredrik Bennet. In the 62nd match minute, Samurai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olov Bäckström to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 63 minutes, Tomas Berganza managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomas Berganza was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fredrik Bennet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 66th minute. Fredrik Bennet was a little too slow when Isidoro Sarmiento got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 70th minute. The score was now 1-5. If Miguel Miralles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Samurai booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isidoro Sarmiento didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fredrik Bennet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Berganza in the 85th minute of the match. In the 88th match minute, Samurai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jan-Åke Johansson to maneuver through the defense. Abraham Alguacil took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 89th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Fredrik Bennet. Samurai's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 90th match minute, Panama was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felipe Ros to maneuver through the defense. Marcos Cotilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mattias Smefeldt in the 93rd minute of the match. 95 minutes into the match, Samurai's goal looked a bit too open when Isidoro Sarmiento came free, but Fredrik Bennet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Panama's Fredrik Bennet threw himself towards the right post 97 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Tomas Berganza, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
