The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A collision led to Mercedes getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Fabian Ascencio hit a great ball. Alvaro Abar could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Dante Lacasa made a huge save. Mercedes's Augusto Ellande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 18th minute of play. When Manuel Morais came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Mercedes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Manuel Morais couldn't finish the play. 23 minutes into the match, Mercedes's goal looked a bit too open when Luca Zorita came free, but Augusto Ellande reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Augusto Ellande took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Alvaro Abar was the one to do the kick off. After a rather tough play, Mercedes's Anier Mon got a free kick in the 51st minute. In the 53rd minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Augusto Ellande saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 66 minutes into the match, Mexico's Alberto Tafalla sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Augusto Ellande narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Manuel Morais took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dante Lacasa. Dante Lacasa dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan-Ivar Nordmo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mercedes's Anier Mon was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Dante Lacasa in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 82ndth minute of the game Joel Gaona who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mercedes's Augusto Ellande was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Morais, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Honorato Kauldi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mercedes's Augusto Ellande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 95th minute of play. When the referee blew the final whistle, Mercedes could leave the field as winners, despite Mexico having more of the ball for most of the match.
