Brede Bonk showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felix Montenegro in the 40th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brede Bonk prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lukas Bambas in the 42nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. When Samuel Kristiansson fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored AC Perugia Calcio's protests and gave Samuel Kristiansson a yellow card for diving instead. AC Perugia Calcio's Brede Bonk played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 54th minute of play. After a rather tough play, AC Perugia Calcio's Bogdan Markowski got a free kick in the 55th minute.
