Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 9th minute of play. Gleb Sorokin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Igor Akinfeev breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 24 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Fedor Ivanchuk came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fedor Ivanchuk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fedor Ivanchuk in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 35 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fedor Ivanchuk in the 42nd minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gleb Sorokin, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fedor Ivanchuk made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 51st minute of play forced Voskresensk FC's goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Fedor Ivanchuk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Fedor Ivanchuk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gleb Sorokin took the ball and in the 61 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 65th minute of the match, Tomas Illescas got a very nice opportunity to score, but Igor Akinfeev was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Fedor Ivanchuk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Roman Doronin hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Tomas Illescas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 72ndth minute tested the skills of Igor Akinfeev when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 78thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Voskresensk FC's Igor Akinfeev was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evgeniy Fomichev in the 80th minute of the match. After 81 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Alex Chicote. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gleb Sorokin in the 83rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Voskresensk FC's zone, Patricio Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Igor Akinfeev came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 96th minute. After taking down the ball on Venezuela's corner Tomas Illescas fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Igor Akinfeev quite easily take care of the ball. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
