When Alex Chicote fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Alex Chicote a yellow card for diving instead. After having played for 12 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 13th minute, Chen Ao Fan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Krister Uggstedt, made in the 25th minute of the game. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Chen Ao Fan was slow to take the kick. During this time Skövde AIK's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Chen Ao Fan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Krister Uggstedt charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Krister Uggstedt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 33 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Skövde AIK! 35 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Skövde AIK's Viktor Pettersson. Viktor Pettersson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd rose to their feet as Skövde AIK's Georg Norström slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-1 after 37 minutes of play. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Skövde AIK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chen Ao Fan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 44 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Knut Rudberg.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Chen Ao Fan to strike the kick off in the second half. Viktor Pettersson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevin Keegan in the 81st minute of the match. If Chen Ao Fan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute, Camilo Gaos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chen Ao Fan made a great header on Skövde AIK's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chen Ao Fan in the 90th minute of play. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Skövde AIK's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
